Meet Eric J. Pier, DDS
Dr. Eric Pier was born & raised in Rockland & earned his B.S. in Chemistry at Bates College. While completing his thesis in Inorganic Chemistry, Dr. Pier discovered that scientific research was not the path he wanted to pursue after all. His desire to work with & help people directly led him to consider the field of dentistry & he never looked back. Dr. Pier is proud to be a third-generation dentist, following in his father’s & grandfather’s footsteps.
While completing his final pre-requisites for dental school, Dr. Pier worked as a research assistant at the Tufts University Molecular Oncology Research Institute for two years, followed by one year as a dental assistant at Mount Pleasant Dental Care. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree at New York University College of Dentistry (NYUCD) in 2016 & received the Ethics Award from the New York Academy of Dentistry in recognition of exemplary commitment to the goals, values & ideals of professional ethics.
Dr. Pier was also awarded the U.S. Navy Health Professions Scholarship Program scholarship & was commissioned in February 2012. Following graduation from NYUCD, he served on active duty for five years. During this time he completed his General Practice Residency at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, California; was the ship dentist for two years on the USS Emory S. Land homeported in Guam; & served another two years at Naval Hospital Rota Spain.
In 2018, while serving on the USS Emory S. Land, Dr. Pier met his now husband Vincent in Hawaii. They were married in October 2020 at the Rockland Congregational Church. They are excited to make their home in Rockport & become members of the MidCoast Maine community. They look forward to exploring Maine, skiing at Sugarloaf, spending time with family & friends on Chickawaukie Pond & trying every restaurant in the area.
Dr. Pier is excited to work alongside his father, Dr. David Pier, as well as Dr. Rebecca Laliberte, Dr. Stacey Stevens & the rest of the team at Mount Pleasant & North Pond Dental Care. He is committed to excellence & providing his patients with comfortable, individualized, comprehensive dental care.
