Meet David H. Pier, DMD


Dr. David Pier

Born & raised in rural northwestern New Jersey, Dr. Pier has lived in his second home state of Maine since 1984. He graduated from Bates College with a BS in Chemistry & married his wife, Karen, before the year was over.  He graduated from Fairleigh Dickenson University School of Dentistry & after a General Practice Residency in Morristown, New Jersey, he & Karen moved to Maine where Dr. Pier joined Glen Cove Dental Associates. After 20 years of practicing with the late Dr. Michael Dougherty, Dr. Bill Barbour, Dr. Deb Endl & Dr. Mike Hersom, Dr. Pier left Glen Cove Dental Associates to open Mount Pleasant Dental Care in January 2004.

Dr. Pier was an assistant professor at the University of New England College of Dental Medicine for six years. He has also developed & presented courses throughout the United States on clinical topics related to direct composite dentistry, including the Bioclear technique, & interpersonal communication skills to teach dentists to communicate better with their patients. He is a recognized leader in the field of dentist/patient relationships as well as direct restorative dentistry. An avid continuing education devotee, Dr. Pier attends over 100 hours every year—more than five times the required amount.

Dave & Karen have been married for over 40 years & enjoy spending time with their three sons & their families. They all enjoy outdoor sports, especially skiing, sailing & hiking. A committed Christian, Dave is an active member of the Rockland Congregational Church where he has served on many boards & committees & occasionally fills the pulpit when the pastor is away.
